About Screaming Green
Here at Screaming Green we are passionate about real nappies and eco parenting. BUT (and this is a very big but !) we are real mums and know that some times it is ok to cut corners. We honestly do believe that there is a place for disposable nappies (eco of course) but strongly feel they should be a luxury and not the norm ! Everything we do is based on the principle that parenting should be a pleasure and not a chore. That’s why we encourage new friendships through our nappuccinos and are constantly sharing helpful tips to make eco parenting easy and really affordable.
We originally met at our antenatal classes and because of our similar tastes and principles we hit it off immediately. Heather originally set the business up on her own but after a year of constantly asking for Sophie’s advice it seemed obvious to make Screaming Green a joint venture.
Guinea Pigs
Our real nappy testers are Lucy and Peter, born within a week of each other in the autumn of 2007. We have been there and seen it all. We talk about poo a lot but, then again, over the last two years we have seen a lot of it !
The Light Bulb Moment
The idea behind the business stemmed from our own difficulties choosing real nappies and then sourcing accessories such as liners and nappy san once we were up and running. There is now a bewildering array of real nappies on the market and with often such high start up costs it is really important to make the right choice. There are also a lot of myths about real nappies which we are determined to dispel. If two passionate eco mums had problems getting started with real nappies then help must be needed.
Our Ethics
The way we run the business is very much customer focused. We want to help you. We are not restricted to selling one make of nappy and, therefore, we can give you truly independent advice. We will also be completely up front and honest and sell you the best nappy for you circumstances, rather than the nappy that will make us the most money. Heather is a complete spend thrift, if she knows she can save you money she will. Sophie is a complete anorak when it comes to all things eco, so if you want to know the credentials of a product she’ll know. If we can’t answer your questions, we won’t fob you off, we’ll find the answers.
When it comes to running the business as environmentally as possible we will do all we can whilst retaining our professional image. Don’t be alarmed if your order comes in a reused cardboard box ! By being environmentally aware we can also drive down the costs for you.
We hope we can make choosing to go green simpler, cheaper and more fun for all your family. If you ever need us, do get in touch. We may have a child attached to us or be up to our arms in nappy laundering but we will get back to you as soon as possible.
